Water Project
Water is connected to every form of life on earth and is the basic human need and right. At a basic level, everyone needs access to safe water in adequate quantities for drinking, cooking, personal hygiene and sanitation facilities that do not compromise health or dignity. Grosse Caye has an urgent need for clean and safe drinking water. Give access to water is one of the main goals of GROUPE DE SUPPORT A AQUIN. We are raising money to build a solar powered desalination plant provided by Elemental Water Makers. With their efficient and easy reverse osmosis technology, powered by the sun desalination units, the community will be able to operate and maintain its drinking water supply of 5,000 liters/day to ensure the sustainability of the project over time. We need your support for Aquin to have a reliable, safe drinking water supply for people, medical facilities and schools.
Education Project
In 2008 we successfully raised funds in Florida, New York and Canada and built the school in Grosse Caye, that now serves children ages 4 - 15. The school also serves as a vocational center, shelter in the times of hurricane and when needed,- as a clinic too. Our first graduating class got their diplomas in June 2019. We are committed to supporting the students who already graduated from the school, helping them with their goals of further goals and maintaining the high standard of education. We aim to expand the scope of activities at our school and add the secondary education to our programs.
We also plan to build a technical school and provide our students with the necessary skills training programs.
Healthcare Project
Each year about 20 of us, all medical professionals,— doctors, nurses and pharmacists organize free clinics in the remote villages of Aquin where healthcare is completely neglected. We provide medical supplies, medications and references for those in need of further treatment to the community hospital of Aquin.
Community Support Project
We work hand-in-hand with Haitians, hoping to empower them in addressing social and economic problems and injustices in their lives and communities. Our mission is to contribute to the community through needed lectures and workshops on topics such as nutrition, first aid, sexual health, relationship violence and maintaining health.
Reforestation Project
The massive loss of forest cover is mainly due to the production of charcoal, which is the main source of energy for the population. Deforestation magnifies the effects of hurricanes and contributes to soil degradation. Our mission is to provide resources, education and expertise to support reforestation work in Haiti.
